International Women's Day is a very exciting moment and time for women all around the world. It is a celebration of diversity and a time to observe. Leadership is a common theme for women; even with those who have just answered the calling to that reality. For centuries, women have demonstrated a great capacity and understanding of human success and failures. Give yourselves a round of applause. "I'm Every Woman, It's All in Me" ~ Chaka Khan" Have you seen the definitions produced by Merriam-Webster describing the terms woman and female? Two totally different perceptions. Women are redefining themselves more and more. The United States Census Bureau reports in 2016, that there are approximately 162 million women existing on the planet. Some History: Women's Day spans back to 1857 and is still celebrated today. When women from New York City factories staged a protest over working conditions. International Women’s Day was first observed in 1909, but it wasn’t until 1981 that Congress established National Women’s History Week to be commemorated the second week of March. In 1987, Congress expanded the week to a month. Every year since, Congress has passed a resolution for Women’s History Month, and the President has issued a proclamation. There are many support organizations for women to join to empower themselves in their personal and professional life to help make a difference as they have always done and always will.
