It took a moment, a few days, a couple of weeks and hours until I shared my commentary on the incredible life and legacy of Roger Nelson. Many of us refer to him intimately as “The Purple One” or The Artist. We all knew him as a musical genius and our one and only “Prince”. And oh, how appropriate and well deserving for such an amazing, gifted and talented man. As I wrapped my heart and mind around his demise and accepted his soul’s transition, it became more clear that his purpose was complete. For those who have ever had the opportunity to attend a concert and shake Prince’s hand, give him a hug, record a album or single; shared the stage or sit at his dinner table, you were blessed closely by his presence in that you had a front row seat to his life. Prince left an imprint on the hearts and souls of people who truly loved his music. I met Prince’s music around my senior year in high school. And I didn’t hesitate to attend one of the greatest concerts in my life when he was at Constitution Hall in Washington, DC. “Whose that soprano, falsetto voice is that on the radio talking about, “I wanna be your lover?” Well, thanks to WPGC and Donnie Simpson, ALL on the eastcoast know! And as we learned more and more about this transparent and beautiful soul of a man, we were being given a lesson about life because if you listen to every song, every album, Prince wrote and sang about his and other’s life experiences. For instance, if you’ve ever listened to the #Emancipation album, you will hear some of what he went through to own his purpose driven, extremely extraordinary and private life. “White Mansion” is one of my favorite tracks. He was referring to Paisley Park, his home. There are so many articles out there in magazines, on social media expressing about Prince. I am in awe and appreciating the photo chosen for this blog. If you did not know, the stretching out of the arms, palms up is the symbolic gesture and complete surrendering; to God. Prince transformed life and divinity. Regardless of his celebrity status or what the Universe predicted and decided would be Prince’s destiny, I can see that God used him to set a lot of hearts free. Others may disagree. However, in retrospect, he answered the call. To understand when God chooses to use someone as he did Prince; whose music impacted so many people around world. You cannot help but consider it. His life, to me seemed more like a biblical character. If God or a prophet wrote a scripture about Prince’s life, what do you think it would say? I will leave it there. Listen to his music. Remembering, Prince. ~ Faith Works
